THE FUN STUFF
A MORE PERSONAL LOOK AT WHAT MAKES ME TICK
Carve Out Your Space
Sunrise is my time to reflect. My morning routine gives me space and time that’s hard to find once the world is awake.
In Awe of My Kids Doing Their Thing
Watching my kids grow into true individuals is a profound source of inspiration – especially considering it only feels like yesterday when they were sleeping past noon at home on the weekends.
Finding My New Center of Gravity
When you turn 50 there is an instinct to categorize life as “before 50” and “after 50.” As I’ve been reflecting on the first half of my life and try to envision what the next half could bring, I realize that I need to find a new center of gravity. One that doesn’t revolve completely around children and my career.
Uncomfortable Fun
Kayaking makes me uncomfortable, and I love it. Over the last year, I’ve had the very good fortune to kayak 1,000 miles in three very different geographies: Green Lake, Wisconsin; the Florida Atlantic coast; and most recently the Pacific ocean off Mexico. Considering how tumultuous 2020 was, my year of kayaking was also an exercise in gratitude.
My New Social Network
As time slowed down during the pandemic, I became a more conscious consumer of where to spend my energy. I had been off Facebook already for a while, moving my social posts and connections to Instagram, but more and more, Strava has become my social network of choice.
Get inspired and find your motivation
I consider myself to be pretty self motivated, but we all need inspiration, especially on those tough days where we'd rather stay in bed. Here are a few of the people who inspire me most.
Consider a Reset
When the pandemic hit and the life as we knew it shut down, I missed a lot at first. In-person conversations. Traveling. Eating out. Socializing. But I also began to enjoy the slow down.
