Consider a Reset
When the pandemic hit and the life as we knew it shut down, I missed a lot at first. In-person conversations. Traveling. Eating out. Socializing. But I also began to enjoy the slow down. I started to appreciate my newfound travel-free routine. The built-in excuse not to go have those late night drinks. Not waking up to those foggy morning hangovers. Most of all, I just appreciated the extra time to focus on myself and my physical and mental well-being.
It was the perfect opportunity for a reset. What I call my COVID cleanse. I was approaching 50 and hated the way I felt. Puffy, tired, drained, distracted. So I decided to do something about it. I made a list of what I needed to cut out - sugar, carbs, all things fried, soda and alcohol. I started thinking about all the things to add in - namely new forms of exercise like kayaking, gravel biking and boxing to kick start my body. And then I did what I tend to do, started looking at tools that could help me, from nutritional supplements to social apps to exercise gear (more on some of the most useful tools in later posts).
It's four months in, I've already dropped 40 lb and feel better than I have in years.
